Amber. Chiapas amber is a Mexican denomination of origin from the state of Chiapas, in the south of the country. It is formed from a residual plant resin from some trees dating from 25 to 40 million years ago. Since the pre-Hispanic era, amber was used to make sculptures and jewelry, which were symbols of power and prestige. It was also highly valued for its energetic, healing, and magical properties, which is why it is even used for protection today.
